Bobby Weinapple is not only the ideal coach but an incredible mentor and role model. He works with detail, patience, and 100% attention to his students. As an actor, director, and performer himself, he listens with great care and is devoted to each of his students individually, while creating the safest, most professional, and most supportive environment. Reboot, Last Man Standing, Dr. Ken, Agent Carter, Cougar Town, Parenthood
When I think about what separates Bobby from the other teachers is his ability to make you feel heard and that your journey is a collaborative one. Bobby is one of the best, and he has made me a better performer and coincidentally, a better person during my time studying with him. 90210, Southland, CSI
I began studying with Bobby about 8 years ago and I must say, since moving to New York, I haven’t found the level of specificity, focused energy, and tremendous talent of perception in a teacher since. He is tireless in his devotion to the performer’s craft and is very insightful and sensitive to the nuances of each moment on stage. I feel extremely lucky to have had the luxury of studying with him for the start of the most important formative years of my life. Student (Sarah Lawrence College)
I started studying with Bobby because I wanted to expand my range and work on my stage chops. I was nervous coming from voice work to performing work but I immediately felt safe and comfortable opening up in the class. His guidance was absolutely invaluable. The amount of growth that came from exploring and strengthening the imagination was awesome.- Voice Over Actor (Los Angeles)
I have had the pleasure of working with Bobby for the last seven years, as his choreographer when he worked as an actor and as the fight director when he performed the duties of the director, on numerous theatrical and educational projects. His enthusiasm for his craft and his interest in the development and promotion of his art form exceed all reasonable expectations. Bobby is imaginative, highly creative, driven, passionate, and very disciplined in his approach to his craft.
Bobby is committed to the artistic process of making theatre. He knows how to work with a director and be a director. He understands that theatre is a collaborative process and is willing and able to make changes and be flexible. He invites those around him to share their vision and he easily incorporates those ideas into his own.
I have watched Bobby work as a teacher of acting and theatre on numerous occasions. His greatest gift is his ability to transfer his enthusiasm for acting to his students. His experience in both classical and modern theatre as well as knowledge of music and choreography allows him to reach and challenge his students on many levels.
I have greatly appreciated the opportunity to work with an artist of Bobby's caliber. I feel that his students are receiving a rare gift to have Mr. Weinapple as their instructor of acting. Bobby has my unreserved and unconditional recommendation.
One of my favorite things about Bobby is how well he listens. It's as if his process absolutely depends on it. He works very hard at his craft which, as the best actors suspect, sometimes means not working hard at all. His casual charisma casts this illusion of effortlessness that, I suspect, is a mask for an ambitious internal discipline....one of my favorite things about Bobby is how well he listens. It's as if his process absolutely depends on it." As a director of film and stage, my first impressions of an actor often occur during auditions and that's when I first met Bobby. The part Bobby was trying out for was a principal character in my feature movie, "Tragos." He applied himself to the cold reading with a ferocity and a focus that pushed me to rethink the role and eventually, rewrite it with him in mind; he got the part. That's my first compliment. I was also impressed by Bobby's approach to his audition process, not so much for what he did – he did well – but by what he didn't do: he didn't try and impress me. He listened. He listened to my directions and then, applied himself to the script while connecting with the other actor in the scene. Simple, to the point and effective; that's how I'd describe Bobby's acting, with a double emphasis on "effective."
Something else. This actor arrives thinking on his feet. How to describe this. It was as if he actively took charge of the audition by transforming it into a kind of free acting class for testing his own creative triggers. Chutzpah. Though some may view this as arrogance, I was thrilled at the chance to discover where he was going with it. And, I liked where Bobby went with his dynamic energy and relentless pursuit of specificity, especially for character motivation and character self-image.
Film shoots are often fraught with boredom, frustration and too much waiting; conditions that can severely test anyone's patience and wits. I am pleased to say that Bobby's professionalism shined under the banal duress of real filmmaking; no complaints, no whining, no ego. Between lighting set-ups and audio checks, he was busy conserving his energy. And, as a director, this paid off in spades in front of the camera.
Every actor works differently. Some actors excel in the first or second takes; others, like Bobby Weinapple, show consistent improvement with multiple attacks. My guess is that he rises to the challenge of doing it until he gets it right and for the chance at exhausting his resources and pushing the envelope of his considerable talent.
Rapport is everything. I have recast actors midstream due to ego conflicts and communication jams; real filmmaking and theatre are difficult enough already. My rapport with Bobby was personable and easy.

Bobby is a fantastic teacher. I have worked with him in both his acting and acting for singers classes and I highly recommend him for both classes. The work is deep, meaningful and expertly guided. Since starting acting class with Bobby, I have been able to break through many challenging acting gigs and the singing class has been a truly a medicinal experience! This is exactly the kind of teacher that you want in doing this kind of work.
"Really looking forward to tonight's class. So grateful to be a part of it, and to work with you and my classmates. I think the effect of you being away lately makes me value / look forward to our sessions that much more. I'm thrilled to be able to integrate some of the work I've been doing outside of class with the work in scenes, and vice versa. You've had such a positive impact on my life, and have been very generous with me, and I'm super grateful. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!"
